The restaurant scene in the Phoenix metropolitan area has evolved dramatically over the last five years. With the development of Grayhawk, DC Ranch and the entire northeast Scottsdale area, restauranteurs have flocked to the area. Some of our favorite restaurants have opened "up North", and many new ones have opened and are serving great food. Sinceesedom eat at home, we have had occasion to try new places.

So, here is our list which is divided into "the city" and "up north".

UP NORTH

Edddie V's -- DC Ranch. We were at the bar with our guests and I stayed to pay the tab. When the waiter came up to me and asked if he could escort me to the table, I was hooked! Warm and upscale with lots of seafood and some steaks. 480-538-8468

Flemings -- DC Ranch. Our favorite steak house in town has expanded to North Scottsdale. 480-538-8000

Flo's -- Three locations to choose from: DC Ranch and one on Frank Lloyd Wright and Thompson Peak Parkway. Neighborhood establishments with really delicious Asian food. Flo is always checking to be sure you are happy. DC Ranch: Flo's Unique Chinese 20775 North Pima, 480-473-1188 - Flo's Asian 16495 North Scottsdale Road, 480-609-9888 - Flo's Chinese 15027 North Thompson Peak, 480-661-8883

Guiseppes -- Scottsdale and Thunderbird NWC. Pasquale is the owner and a good friend. This neighborhood pasta place has good food at good prices. Bring your on wine. Order some of their hot peppers to spice things up. Don't forget to try the deserts -- they are made by Pasquale's wife, wo is muchbetter looking than he is! Give Pasquale a kiss for us. 480-991-4792

North -- Scottsdale and Kierland. Lovely restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. I had the ahi tuna salad for dinner. I understand they have good burgers and pizza, but don't let this fool you -- it is a real nice restaurant. Spend some time walking around Kierland Commons shops. 480-948-2055
